DRESSAGE AND TEAMS

Come on all you Dressage Divas, it’s that time of year again to plan what you will be doing in the season ahead with the usual Intro, Prelim, Novice, Elementary and Medium classes.

With that thought in mind Longton Riding Club dressage season has lots to offer!

This season we will be holding SEVEN dressage events, starting with the first event being held at Thompson House Pepper Lane Standish, Wigan WN6 0PP, and the rest on the LRC show ground.

We will also be looking for team members for the summer qualifiers which are held at Bold Heath. Anyone who is interested in being considered for selections should tick the appropriate boxes on your membership application form and text Suzanna Whalley on 07855 854294 or see her at the Dressage Shows. Please note that the club must submit the preliminary entries early in the season, so Suzanna must be aware of your interest in time to be considered for selections. Attendance at the early shows is recommended.

We all wish you the best of luck for the coming season and hope it’s a successful one for you all.

Don’t forget that LRC are a British Riding Club member, which allows us to compete at qualifying events to go forward to the National Championships.  To compete in the qualifiers and teams, you must be an LRC member, your horse/pony be fully vaccinated and be available for the Championship dates.  Please make it known to Suzanna Whalley (Dressage) or Laura Walkden (SJ, CT, HT) of your interest to be part of the teams.

PLEASE NOTE: NEW HAT STANDARDS FOR 2023. All hats need to be checked and tagged at the qualifiers before you compete. Go to BRC website for more information.

DOUBLE POINTS JOKER CARD

To earn double points at an event, fill out your Joker Card, which will be kept on the entries desk, and hand it in before competing.  For every point you get that day, they will be doubled.  On Dressage days’ hand it in when collecting your numbers.

– One Joker card per member, to be played at ONE club show and/or ONE dressage event.

– NO back dating to a previous show allowed.

– Can be played at any show.

– Points counted against any horse/pony ridden by the member combination that day only.

SHOW GROUND ODE

Next year we intend to again run the show ground ODE.  All the cross country obstacles will be knock down fences and scored accordingly.  More details will be in the new club schedule for 2023.

PAYPAL

Paypal payments will continue to be available to pay for Memberships, Dressage entries, Training, Team fees, dance tickets etc. Unfortunately Paypal charge us fees for this service and we do have to add a small surcharge to cover this.

FINALLY

We still need your help, as we state every time we contact you.  Quite a few of your committee are getting on in years, we need new young enthusiastic people to join us and help in the running of your club, and help with fund raising and social events, hopefully taking the pressure off some of us old timers.  We currently have a committee of 16 members, to successfully run a Sunday points show we require approximately 18 people.  Without new younger blood on the committee the club will cease to operate and a wonderful facility will be lost, please don’t let this happen, it is too good to lose.

We look forward to seeing you at the AGM on the Monday the 23rd January 2023 at the Walmer Bridge Village Hall on Gill Lane, Walmer Bridge.PR4 5GN.  Come along and enjoy the free Hotpot supper and quiz that follows the meeting.  This is your club, come along and give us your support.

On behalf of your Committee I hope you have all had a very Merry Christmas and would like to wish you a happy and prosperous New Year and look forward to seeing you all next season.

Mick Cookson

Chairman
