The schedule will be available to download from our website at the beginning of February 2017. There
will be all your favourite classes as well as the special class for Rescued Horses & Ponies very
kindly sponsored by Ms Kathy Hyde. Exhibitors are asked to provide a brief summary of the history
of the animal and these are taken into consideration by our special judge.
We would like to thank all the sponsors of our previous shows and hope that they will continue to
support us for this unique showing extravaganza.  If anyone would like to sponsor any of the
classes or special awards for the 2017 show then please contact Irene Grundy on 0759 7374008.
There may be spaces available for some trade stands on Central Avenue - again anyone interested
should contact Irene.
A new dressage season is upon us and in 2017 Longton Riding Club will be holding all the usual Intro, Prelim, Novice and Elementary classes, not forgetting the Pairs dressage at the last show which will be awarded a trophy on the day.
As a club we also compete in the Northern Liaison Group (NLG) team events both in the summer and winter seasons, starting with the summer qualifiers which are held at Rochdale Riding Club in June. This is a qualifier for the National Championships held at Lincoln in September. Anyone who is interested in being considered for selections should tick the appropriate boxes on your membership application form and also text Suzanna Whalley on 07855 854294 or see her at the Dressage Shows. Please note that the club has to submit the preliminary entries for these events early in the season, so Suzanna must be aware of your interest in time to be considered for selections. Attendance at the early shows is recommended.
After a successful win at Lincoln in 2013 of the Rural Riders (team of six riding in formation) we will also be looking for senior riders who would be interested in competing in this event again this year.  For further information and to register your interest please contact Suzanna.
We all wish you the best of luck for the coming season and hope it’s a successful one for you all.
We already offer the Ridden Showing Show and the In-Hand Championship to be entered on line and paid for via PayPal.  We are pleased to announce that it is also available for Memberships, Dressage entries and Training. However, if you wish to pay for Training by PayPal you must first book your training sessions with the organiser concerned to ensure that there is a space available for you.  Please note, PayPal payments are not available for the practice evenings at the showground.
We still need your help, as we state every time we contact you.  Quite a few of your committee are getting on in years, we need new young enthusiastic people to join us and help in the running of your club, and help with fund raising and social events, hopefully taking the pressure off some of us old timers.  Without new younger blood on the committee the club will cease to operate and a wonderful facility will be lost, please don’t let this happen, it is too good to lose.
We look forward to seeing you at the AGM on the Monday the 30th January at the Walmer Bridge Village Hall on Gill Lane, Walmer Bridge.PR4 5GN.  Come along and enjoy the free buffet supper and quiz that follows the meeting.  This is your club, come along and give us your support.
On behalf of your Committee I would like to wish you all A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year, and look forward to seeing you all next season.
Mick Cookson
